Amboseli Day Tour From Nairobi!

Relax and enjoy this Idyllic African scene as we wind our way to Amboseli Park. Amboseli, known to have the best views of Mt. Kilimanjaro – the highest peak in Africa and the best spot in Africa to view free-ranging elephants. Perhaps, is why Amboseli is the second most popular park in Kenya, following only the Masai Mara.

Itinerary:

We will start our trek early at 5.a.m on the Nairobi-Mombasa Highway, crossing the African savannah. We’ll soon take in a luminous Kenya sunrise lighting up a countryside of homesteads and brightly outfitted Maasai herdsmen with their cattle.

Within 3 – 4 hours we will arrive and start the adventure with our first game drive. With Mt. Kilimanjaro as our background (weather permitting), you’ll see the herds of protected elephants, many sporting immense ivory tusks. For even more wildlife viewing, we’ll take a ride up to Observation Hill. This vantage point will give us an overall vista of the entire park. Check out the swamps below where the elephants gather daily. You can also walk about the hill as it’s one of the few places in the park you can explore on foot.

The birdlife is also abundant in Amboseli, especially around the swamp and marshlands of the park. You’ll find raptors and also water birds like pelican, Pink flamingoes, crake and kingfisher and others. Another unique feature here is the indigenous Maasai people who live within the park’s borders. If you’d like you can take an optional visit with the Maasai to meet them and learn about their culture and lifestyle (time permitting)

We’ll settle in at Amboseli serena lodge for lunch, one of the nicest restaurants in the park at around 12.30 p.m. and enjoy a sumptuous lunch or you may carry your own picnic lunch to be enjoyed at the observation hill. After lunch we shall have a short enroute game drive of the day. This will be a shorter tour, but we may spot elephants roaming from the marshes as they tend to later in the day. Having taken in the best of Amboseli, we head back to the highway and to the capital city of Nairobi, arriving in the evening. This has been a full day of sights, sounds, magnificent wildlife and a glimpse into the safari life in Africa.
