Day 2

Amboseli National Park

Meal plan: Breakfast, lunch, dinner

  • This full safari day will be filled with game drives, exploring the diversity and rich wildlife of this smaller park. But you can design your day as you choose. Just let your driver/guide know just how much safari and how much relaxation would be the best combination for you.
  • We’ll start our day early – it’s what we do on safari. What better way to soak up the morning light and see the wildlife in the quickening day?
  • After breakfast, we’ll jump in our private 4 x 4 and look for elephant, lion, buffalo, and many of the large and small wildlife that inhabit this pretty reserve.
  • We’ll head back to our accommodation for lunch and perhaps some relaxation time.
  • Observation Hill is an ideal spot for sighting some of the park’s many elephants, plus hippo and birds such as pelicans and Egyptian goose.

Dinner, overnight at your pre-booked camp/Lodge

Day 3

AMBOSELI – LAKE NAIVASHA (210 miles – Approx. 6 hrs.)

  • Let’s get up with the birds for some early morning game viewing and bid farewell to the park and mighty Kilimanjaro.
  • We’re on our way to the Great Rift Valley and Lake Naivasha.
  • We should arrive there for lunch and then an afternoon boat safari over the lake, viewing the birdlife, grazing wildlife on the shore, and views of mighty hippos as we sail by.
  • It’s a bountiful feeling soaking up all that nature has provided here. We’ll stretch our legs with a guided walking tour to Crescent Island Sanctuary to see the zebra, impala, buffalo, giraffe, and others grazing nearby.

Dinner, overnight at your pre-booked camp/Lodge

 Day 4:

LAKE NAIVASHA – LAKE NAKURU (50 miles – Approx. 1 hr.)

  • (You can choose to go to Lake Bogoria instead of Lake Nakuru if you’d like to view the larger flocks of flamingoes there.)
  • We’ll be up early for a bicycle safari to Hell’s Gate National Park to see its dramatic land formations and easily grazing wildlife.
  • Lake Nakuru National Park is nearby, and we’ll arrive to take in the lake and its many birds like ostrich, heron, eagle, and even some bright pink flamingoes.
  • But there’s more than just birds in this unique park so we’ll be looking to spot lion, leopard, warthog, zebra, giraffe, and as a special treat, rare black and white rhinos.

Dinner, overnight at your pre-booked camp/Lodge

Day 5:

LAKE NAKURU – MASAI MARA (185 miles – Approx. 6 hrs.)

  • Let’s get up to watch the sunrise… and hear the birds sing! This is a special time to explore the park. Soon we’ll exit Lake Nakuru and head out for Kenya’s most popular park, Masai Mara National Reserve.
  • When you arrive at the Mara, take in its gently rolling hills and the iconic acacia trees punctuating the landscape. You’ll know you’ve come to a unique spot in the natural world, one that speaks to the richness of Africa’s scenic wonder and bountiful wildlife.

Dinner, overnight at your pre-booked camp/Lodge

Day 6:

Full day – Masai Mara

Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

  • We’ve planned this 8-day safari to give you lots of time explore the rolling hills and acacia tree- dotted plains of the Masai Mara.
  • One of the most unique properties of the Mara is that this ecosystem has the highest concentration of wildlife in this region of Africa. Besides the Big Five, we’ll be looking for gazelle, topi, eland, plus great quantities of birdlife – kingfisher, stork, guinea fowl and plenty of raptors.
  • You may also see stunning hordes of wildebeests and zebra throughout the park during the Great Migration (July – October). This is the time when uncountable numbers of these grazers invade the park, crossing the Mara River, searching for sustenance.
  • We’ll take a picnic lunch near the river looking for hippos and crocodiles. And if it is the migration season, look for the vast influx of wildlife streaming into the Mara.

Dinner, overnight at your pre-booked camp/Lodge

Day 7:

2nd FULL OF DAY OF GAME DRIVES AT MASAI MARA

It is our second full day at the Masai Mara. If you have any special requests or spots you like to visit or re-visit, just ask your driver/guide. He’ll be happy to help.

Two fun activities your guide will let you know about are an optional visit to the local Masai village to meet the tribespeople and learn about their lives and culture. You might even participate in one of their dances! The other optional event is a pre-dawn hot air balloon safari over the park. Imagine, sailing over the Masai Mara as the sun begins to light up the hills, valleys, and rivers of the reserve. You’ll have a perfect view of the wildlife as it roams over the vast plains. A not-to-be-missed experience, your guide can make all the arrangements.

 Day 8:

Masai Mara – Nairobi (165 miles – Approx. 5 – 6 hrs)

Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch.

  • This is our eighth day on safari and by now you’re well-traveled and experienced explorers. So, what do you say we jump into the 4 x 4 for another drive through the park to see who we can see? The Mara always offers us fresh surprises.
