The Aberdares are an isolated volcanic range that forms the eastern wall of the rift valley, running about 100 Km north south between Nairobi and Thompsons Falls. This beautifully scenic region is much cooler than the savannahs and offers a completely different perspective on the country. The Park is most famous as the place where Princess Elizabeth found out that she was Queen upon the death of her father at Treetops Lodge. Since then the treetops lodge has been popular with tourists on safari to Kenya.

Day 1

Nairobi to Aberdares national park (3 hrs.)

Depart Nairobi at 0830hrs. Cross the Kenyan Highlands, through pineapple and coffee plantations, to your “base hotel” in time for lunch at Aberdare Country Club. Afternoon transfer into Aberdare national park and on to The Ark Lodge for bird watching and overnight floodlit game viewing from the lodge viewing decks. Ark Lodge, set in the heart of the Aberdare National Park, is a unique tree lodge with a veranda that overlooks a floodlit waterhole and saltlick allowing undisturbed views of wildlife visiting the waterhole. Elephant, rhino, leopard, bushbuck and occasionally an elusive bongo and giant forest hog have been sighted.

Dinner and overnight at the Ark lodge.

Day 2

Aberdares national park to Nairobi (3 hrs)

After breakfast, return to the base hotel to reconnect with your driver for a drive back to Nairobi to arrive just before lunch where the tour ends.
